Bees, Romance, Rates, and Pizza
Bee Quote of the Day: “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” – Muhammad Ali
Today in Economic History: It was on this day in 1776 that Congress approved a $5 million dollar loan with a 4.0% interest rate for the U.S. to help finance the American Revolution. This was the first loan our country ever took out. (*flash-forward to today. As of Sept 28th, 2017 the national debt hit a record high of 20.204 trillion-dollars.)
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and those reports can sway interest rates in either direction. This week it’s all about the employment. Today we’ve got the ADP Employment Report, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and Friday’s biggie the Employment Numbers for September (expected: 100k new jobs). Any bad numbers will drive interest rates down, and vice-versa if they come out better than expected.
Interest rates continue to do…. nothing. A 30-year fixed remains in the high-3s/low-4s, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you ever ordered pizza at McDonalds.
Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive HALF the lender fees – an $895 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or people that like romantic songs that aren’t romantic who can use this gift.
Bee Quote of the Day 2: “Wish I was rich enough to own a room full of bees & if someone upset me I could order my muscular butler to, “Take them to the Bee Room!”” – @IamEnidColeslaw
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Gwyneth Paltrow last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Hugging Sloth Air Planter? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “I turn 41 today and I know so much more than I did from my ’95 hit movie. Around that time I also appeared in three Aerosmith videos but I’m best known for movies. One I’m not proud of was the Batman movie released in ’97 that got me the Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actress – maybe that part was over my head, not easy playing half-human & half-animal. Easiest part to play was myself in 2008’s Tropic Thunder.”
