Better to Have Loved and Lost…
Divorce Quote of the Day: “Getting divorced just because you don’t love a man is almost as silly as getting married just because you do.” – Zsa Zsa Gabor (actress)
Interest Rate Update: Rates went up last week due to the positive Employment Report. Remember the rule of thumb when it comes to interest rates: Do not fry bacon naked! Oh wait, that’s a different rule. The one I was thinking of is this: the better the economy, the worse the rates. This week is off to a good start for rates, as they seem to be rallying somewhat for a variety of reasons. Rates are in the low 5s/ high 4s for a 30-year fixed with ARMs about a point lower. Don’t forget–I will waive all lender fees (a $995 savings) for any loan over 240k.
Wuss’up This Week: A couple of auctions this week–the 10-year Treasury Note Auction today and the 30-year Treasury Bond Auction tomorrow. A total of $34 billion in Notes and Bonds will be auctioned; if these do well rates will rally. If there isn’t a lot of interest in these, rates will go up. Bonds and Nots make a great gift! Pick some up for a loved one today.
Divorce Quote of the Day 2: “My wife and I did the Jewish divorce custom where we took a broken glass and we put it back together.” – Myq Kaplan (comedian)
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to all of you who correctly guessed Kurt Cobain as the answer to last week’s question. Want to be entered into a drawing to win $7.56 in change (just cleaned out of my car)? Simply email me the answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: “On Saturday I turn 63. My most famous song does not, as rumor has it, refer to a plane crash, but rather the suicide of a close friend and time I spent in a mental hospital. You might be surprised to know that a lot of my hits were written by Carole King, or that my ex-wife is NOT singing about me in her most famous song–that’s most likely Warren Beatty, or Mick Jagger (who sang backup on the song).”
