Books, Higher Rates, and Weird Deaths
Book Quote of the Day: “Always read something that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.” – P.J. O’Rourke
Today in Economic History: It was on this date back in 1985 that the IRS reported the number of millionaires in the nation had doubled from 1980 as a result of Regan’s fiscal policy. (*note: I’m pretty close to being nowhere close to joining this club).
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. This week it’s all about jobs as today we’ve got the ADP Employment Report, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and Friday’s biggie the Employment Numbers for February. If these numbers disappoint you’ll see rates (hopefully) get better, and vice-versa if the numbers exceed expectations.
Speaking of rates… today you’ll find a 30-year fixed around the mid-4s with ARM rates a little lower. As usual, rates will vary based on the type of home, equity in the home, your credit scores, and if you know anyone who died a really weird death.
Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $200k I will pay for the appraisal fee – a $400 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or trick shot bowlers that can use this gift.
Book Quote of the Day 2: “I’ll be signing books at Barnes & Noble from 6:00 pm to whenever they kick me out for ruining all their books.” – @badbanana
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed George Michael last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Yoda Piggy-Back Backpack? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today and since I’m older I’m no longer in the middle of my life or the sitcom I starred in. You might also remember me from my change of faith on Seinfeld, but don’t think of me as a comedy actor because I can do drama too. If I did a horrible job trying to do a certain hip-hop street dance you’d get the title of the critically acclaimed series I starred in from 2008-2013.”
