Courage, Predictable Rates, and Surf’s Up!
Courage Quote of the Day: “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – William Faulkner
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got the Producer Price Index Report (this is a measure of inflation. It’s expected up 0.4%), tomorrow Weekly Jobless Claims, and on Friday Retail Sales (*I expect this to be up as I just bought a six-pack of Rogaine and a three-pack of Frosted Flakes from Costco).
Interest rates remain in their summer funk – 30-year fixed rates you’ll find in the mid-to-upper 4s with adjustable rate mortgages about .25-.50 lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you’re curious about sounds kids have never heard before.
Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan between now and the end of October I will waive $500 of lender fees. Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or big-wave surfers that can use this gift.
Courage Quote of the Day 2: “There’s nothing worse than child abuse, but a close second is when someone describes an actor’s performance as ‘courageous’” – @DannyZuker
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those of you last week who guessed Freddie Mercury. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a I Survived Another Meeting Coffee Mug? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today and it’ll be the 10th year I’ve celebrated it without some close family members. My last name could be a river on the east coast but I was actually born and raised in the Midwest. You might remember me from a primetime show where I was listed as the third all-time best contestant behind Kelly and Carrie. After I lost that show I lost 80 pounds and became a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, but to my fans – don’t worry – I’m not disappearing any time soon because I’ve got a voice on TV.”
