Feet, Bees, Rates, and Healthy States
Foot Quote of the Day: “It’s only out of reach when you choose to keep your feet flat on the floor.” – Lana M.H. Wilder
Today in Economic History: It was on this day back in 1803 the U.S. and French governments finished the negotiations on the Louisiana Purchase which ended up doubling the size of the U.S. America’s holiday shopping totaled only $15 million for the land.
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild that can sway interest rates in either direction. This is a busy week with big reports – today we’ve got Existing Home Sales, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and on Friday Durable Goods Orders, New Home Sales, and Fake Like You’re Working and Prepare to Leave by Noon.
Looks like interest rates are going to end the year pretty much where they started. A 30-year fixed is in the high-3s/low-4s, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if your home is in a healthy state.
Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive half the lender fees – an $895 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info to any friends, family, coworkers, of people worried about bees dying that can use this gift.
Foot Quote of the Day 2: “A severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer.” – Mitch Hedberg
My assistant who is a Pearl Jam/ Eddie Vedder junkie was mad that I didn’t use him in the below trivia since his birthday is coming up. To make up for it here’s a cool clip of him playing his guitar outside of Wrigley Field in September.
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Jamie Foxx last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win Proof is in the Pudding Bowls? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today and I’ve been fortunate to rise to stardom from one of my very first movies ( released in 2007) which wasn’t as horrible as the title suggested. I’ve never won an Oscar but was nominated twice – once for a movie starring Brad Pitt (2011) and one starring Leo DiCaprio (2013). No nominations for the movie I starred in with a title that vegetarians would not like, or the movie where I appeared as myself in the aftermath of an apocalypse.” Speaking of apocalypse…
… it might feel like one because Barry’s Blog is taking a vacation thru the end of the year. I want to wish everyone the happiest of holidays. Eat and drink as much as you want because January is National Regret Month. (I made that up but let’s run with it.) Also wishing you a healthy happy New Year; thanks for all your business and friendship – see y’all in 2018.
