Good. Not Good. Wuss’up?

BarrysBlog_FBNot Good
Last night I woke up at 2:00 AM hungry and craving sugar. I’ve gone 3 days without it since we completely cleaned out the junk food because the kids were eating too much of it. Digging around my pantry I found a half eaten pack of Pop Rocks. I ate it – and then wanting more – ripped it open and began licking the wrapper. I’m standing in my dark kitchen, in my underwear, licking the insides of a Pop Rock wrapper. I’m sure when I die and my life flashes before my eyes, this will be the low point. Felt like a crack addict.

Good
I’m as giddy as a school girl. Actually, I have been my whole life, but the giddy level is at an all-time high because interest rates have rallied to all-time lows (again). This was due to the Consumer Confidence report, Employment report, and strong foreign demand in the treasury auctions last week. 30 year fixed rates are in the high 4s and 5 year ARMS are in the high 3s to low 4s. As usual, rates vary based on credit scores, type of home, and equity in the home.

Wuss’up?
This week mirrors last week which could be both good and bad for rates. There are more treasury auctions. Signs that foreign demand is diminishing could drive rates up. If foreign demand remains strong rates can continue to drop. Also, the weekly employment report comes out on Thursday. It will carry more weight than usual because it’s a light week for economic data.

Inspirational Quote of the Day 2
“Every morning I get up and look through the Forbes list of most successful people in the world. If I’m not there, I go to work.” – Robert Orben (speech writer for Gerald Ford).

Just a reminder that if you have any friends, family, coworkers, or pets that are looking to refinance, I will eat all of the fees involved (including title fees!) for any loan over 240k. On a purchase I can eat the lender fees too. Spread the love – this is a great thing that will come to and end soon…

Timeout for Trivia
Congratulations to those last week who guessed Eric Stoltz as the correct answer. Want to win a $5.00 Starbucks gift card? Simply be one of the first ten to correctly answer this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “I turn 58 today. Although I’m up there in age, ABC’s new show Cougar Town is not about me. Nope, I’m just a hick singer with 22 top 40 hits over my lifetime. But I’m most proud of the fundraising concerts I started with Willie Nelson back in ’85.”
