Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. This week it’s all about jobs. Today we’ve got the ADP Employment Report (expected: 175k), tomorrow Weekly Jobless Claims (expected: 215k), and Friday’s biggie the July Employment Numbers Report (expected: payrolls up +215k, unemployment at 4%). Any numbers that are good for the economy will drive rates up and vice-versa if the numbers disappoint.
Interest rates continue their summer doldrums by not moving much in either direction. A 30-year fixed rate can be found in the mid-to-upper 4s, and adjustable rate mortgages just a little lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if your home resembles the Simpsons home.
