It Could Go Either Way
Types of People Quote of the Day: “There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: Those who are afraid to try themselves, and those who are afraid that you will succeed.” – Ray Goforth
Did’ja Know…The $1 bill’s famous nickname of “Greenback” derives from the Demand Note dollars created by Abraham Lincoln in the late 1800s to finance the Civil War. The notes were printed in black on the front and green on the back (also a little known fact: Lincoln’s wife nicknamed him “Hairy back”).
Wuss’up This Week: The two biggest reports this week are today’s Producer Price Index (PPI) and tomorrow’s Consumer Price Index (CPI). Both of these measure inflation (PPI at the producer level and CPI at the consumer level). Inflation is one of the biggest factors that can push interest rates up. If both of these reports come in under control we’ll be in good shape. However, if they come in at a higher level of inflation than was expected, rates will go higher and we may see the PPI and CPI lead to a CSI (Crime Scene Investigation, or Charlie Sheen Impotency), which would be bad.
Types of People Quote of the Day 2: “There are two types of people in this world: those who like Neil Diamond and those who don’t.” – Bob Wiley (Bill Murray), What About Bob? (1991)
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to all of you who correctly guessed James Taylor as last week’s answer. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Popeye Pez dispenser? Simply email me the answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: Tomorrow I turn 47, and all of these people in Hollywood who get famous for leaking sex tapes today can thank me for inventing that move. Still, I’d like to say that I’m not a sex addict, despite the fact my tape leaked two years after Debbie and I had a one-night stand after meeting at Mother’s, and seven years before Tommy busted me making out with a 10.”
