Jumping, Rates, and Are You Average?

Jumping Quote of the Day: “Jump and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall.” – from fortune cookie I ate last night.

Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and these reports can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we have a speeches by NY Federal Reserve President William Dudley and Dallas Fed Reserve President Robert Kaplan which will most likely touch upon rate hikes. (*In 10th grade a kid named Robert Kaplan accused me of cheating in Math class off of his test and told the teacher which really made me angry. I was cheating, but still… Anyway, I think this is a different Robert Kaplan). Also we’ve got Housing Starts today, Jobless Claims tomorrow, and Existing Home Sales on Friday. Any positive news for the economy will push rates higher, and vice-versa for poor economic data.

Interest rates remain in the high-3s/low-4s for a 30-year fixed, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you’re an above average person.

Don’t forget to remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive HALF the lender fees – an $895 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or Princess Bride fans that can use this gift.

Jumping Quote of the Day 2: “I will never go bungee jumping. A rubber breaking was the reason I was born, it sure as hell isn’t going to be the reason that I die.” – @ConorLynn

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Alicia Silverstone. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Jane Austen Action Figure? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It was on this date in 1990 that I played my first gig with a band whose name represents the final goal of Buddhism.  I played with them until bad things happened and only love was left, but then in ’94 I started my own band whose name sounds similar to what John Belushi would have yelled out in Animal House. Our band is still going strong so yeah, I’ll continue to stick around for awhile.”
