Lower Rates, Lower Weights, and Mini-Golf Make the World Go ‘Round
Gaining Weight Quote of the Day: “Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not.” – Author Unknown.
Wuss’up This Week: We’ve got three big reports coming out this week. Today’s Durable Goods Orders (this is a demand for big ticket items that are kept for more than three years, i.e. refrigerators, bathtubs, the air-hockey table my wife bought that she refuses to admit was a mistake even though it takes up half our basement and the kids got sick of it after a week), tomorrow’s 7-year treasury note auction, and Friday’s Q3 Employment Cost Index. The rule of thumb is that if any of these reports show inflation, the rates will go up.
Interest Rate Update: The 30yr fixed rate remains in the low 4s with ARMs about a point lower. As usual, rates vary based on equity in the home, type of home, credit score, and Bears score.
Gaining Weight Quote of the Day 2: “I went to the 30th reunion of my preschool. I didn’t want to go because I’ve put on like a hundred pounds.” – Comedian Wendy Liebman
Don’t Forget to Remember The 8th Annual PERL Mortgage Mini-Golf Tournament is right around the corner. And guess what. You’re invited! On November the 4th we will be having a mini-party that night with cocktails and food. On November 5th we will have the actual tournament. No entry fee, plenty of food and drink, plenty of fun, and a great way to blow off work.
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to all of you who came up with Kevin Costner as last week’s answer. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a box of Hostess Ding-Dongs? Simply email me the correct answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “I turn 43 tomorrow. My big break came a couple decades ago when Molly Ringwald, Meg Ryan, and Daryl Hannah all passed on the lead for my big movie. (BTW – it’s ironic that the male lead in that movie played a male escort in a movie ten years earlier) Since then I have been acting non-stop and I love it! (I just don’t lovett). I’ve appeared in People Magazine’s Most Beautiful People issue 11 times more than Barry Schwartz.”
From the Nothing to do with Mortgages File: I thought this was an interesting list put out by Blender Magazine of the Top 50 Worst Songs Ever It’s hard to argue with most of these but how accurate can this list be when Styx’ Mr. Roboto is not on it?
