One Thing at a Time!
My four biggest fears in life are sinkholes, sharks, sinkholes filled with sharks, and sinkholes cleverly disguised as potholes. The potholes lately make my drive to and from work feel like I am in a third-world country. Where was I going with this? Can’t remember, so let’s just get to today’s blog…
Ahhh, I remember. We have some problems right here in a first world country.
Multitasking Quote of the Day: “Forget multitasking, find the beauty is doing one thing at a time.” – Author Unknown
Wuss’up This Week: Last week mortgage bond prices finished the week lower, which pushed rates higher. Will that trend continue this week? It depends on the 5-year Treasury Note Auction (today at 12:15) and Thursday’s 7-year Treasury Note Auction. A big demand for these can help interest rates drop. Also on tab this week is the New Home Sales report (out today at 9:00) and tomorrow’s Durable Goods Orders (tomorrow at 7:30), which measures demand for big ticket items (these are items that last more than three years, i.e. airplanes, refrigerators, my Madonna Like A VirginCD).
Rates are still beautiful, Mortgage Fans. A 30-year fixed rate is in the low-to-mid 4s with ARM rates about a point lower. As usual please remember that rates vary based on type of home, equity in the home, credit score, and if you know who the smartest Girl Scout is!
Don’t forget to remember that for any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a $995 savings! This is like Christmas, Cinco de Mayo, and Columbus Day all rolled into one – so be sure to pass this blog onto anyone you think could use a gift like this.
Five minutes of your honest opinion is all it takes to be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card. Use this survey to tell me how you enjoyed working with me on your mortgage and you have a chance to win.
Have more to say than a survey will let you? Write me a review on my Yelp page and I’ll send you a $25 gift card–no drawing required.
Multitasking Quote of the Day 2: “Just saw a kid go down a slide looking at an iPhone. End of the world or multi-tasking?” – Jason Nash (@jason23nash)
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Molly Ringwald last week. Want to be entered to win a fortune cookie maker? Simply email me the answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: “It was this week in 2004 I was fired as cohost from ABC’s upcoming Motown 45 special. Really? Because of what happened on February 1st? Maybe for revenge I can open the boxes Andy and I were holding. Anyway, none of this would be acceptable on the first show I starred in with a future girlfriend and white-trash pop-star. From that show things progressed quickly in my career as I starred in my own band (I have a successful solo career as well), made some appearances on SNL and Punk’d, and made some movies too. My wife was named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2005; we married in 2012 and have been in 7th heaven ever since.”
One blog can’t contain everything I have to share with you. Become a fan of the Hey Mortgage Fans Facebook page to see more!
Rest in peace, Harold.
