This Day in Economic History: It was on this date in 1978 the Johnny Paycheck song Take This Job and Shove It went to # 1 on the Billboard charts.
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about or economy are released that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got the Consumer Price Index, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and nothing on Friday so I’ll tell my boss to take this job and shove it because lack of economic data angers me.
Interest rates seem to have settled down somewhat from their earlier volatility. A 30-year fixed rate remains in the high-3s/low-4s, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual, rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you can make trick shots like these.
Don’t forget to remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a $995 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto to any friends, family, coworkers, or failed Shark Tankers who can use this gift.
Question Quote of the Day 2: “Does the world really need another rhetorical question?” – @aedison
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Emma Stone. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Unicorn Hand Puppet? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today, and you might remember me from protecting a now-deceased diva (’92), or my home-run record (’88), or maybe the fact that my ’95 flop predicted global warming long before it was talked about. I’m most proud of my Academy Award winning ’90 movie which really had nothing to do with dancing.”
