Same As It Ever Was, Same As It Ever Was
Sameness Quote of the Day: “Sameness is the mother of disgust, variety the cure.” – Francesco Petrarch (Poet)
Wuss’up This Week: Thanks to a strong stock market and bailout funds for Greece the interest rates got hammered last week, going up by more than .25% in a 3-day span. Haven’t seen an increase like that since May of last year. So just what will help the rates go back down, Mortgage Fans? Friday’s Employment Report can sway rates in either direction. An increase in employment or weakness in payrolls will probably lead to lower rates.
Interest Rate Update: Conforming rates (for loans under 417k) on a 30-year fixed are in the mid-to-upper 4s while ARM rates are about a point lower. As usual, please let your family, friends, and coworkers know that for any loan over 240k (purchase or refinance) I will waive all lender fees (a $995 savings!). And please forward this email onto anyone you know who could benefit from it.
Sameness Quote of the Day 2: “Someone told my husband and I that there’s a new Playboy for married men – and it has the same centerfold every month.” – Victoria Jackson (Actress, Comedian)
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to all who guessed Kathy Bates as last week’s answer. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Paula Abdul poster? Simply email me the correct answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: “I turn 35 this week. Man, where have all the years gone? Should I ever look back and narrate my life I might tell you about how Columbo was like a grandfather to me (RIP, Peter), or how in 1988 I was nominated for a Golden Globe for Outstanding Actor in a comedy series. Or what a math whiz my TV girlfriend is in real life. Or how much I sound like Daniel Stern.”
I know it’s not her fault… but the T-Mobile spokesperson and her colorful dresses are starting to annoy me.
