Science, Bad Bands, and Very Low Rates!

Science Quote of the Day: Science does not know its debt to imagination.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Rates… are… LOW. Seriously, is there a reason you haven’t called me to refinance yet? 30yr fixed remains in the mid 3s with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score,  type of home, equity in the home, and if that home is decorated with prizes from The Price is Right.

Don’t forget to remember:  Any loan over $240k I will waive ALL lender fees – a $1,050 savings! Please pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or people who believe facts that are actually false

Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about the economy are released that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got a 30-yr Bond Auction (these make great gifts! (*side note: I prefer Amazon gift cards), tomorrow Jobless Claims, and Friday’s Retail Sales. If these are good for the economy rates will trend up, and vice-versa if they are weak numbers.

This Day in Economic History: On this day in 1998 things went from bad to worse for General Motors. They were forced to recall 800,000 vehicles due to *malfunctioning airbags during the midst of a strike by all of their workers. (*FYI, Malfunctioning Airbags was the name of my high school band.)

Science Quote of the Day 2: Before you get all smug about science ask yourself why no microwave can penetrate the heart of a lasagna.” – @johnroderick

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Sly Stallone. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Titanic Ice Cube Mold? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today. I was born here in Illinois although some people like to think I’m from Indiana. I’ve been in a lot of movies, one of my favorites was filmed here in Chicago (which was based on a TV series of the same name). Most of my movies take place on the ground although I spent an entire movie in a plane, and then a handful in space (*despite my name I was with a lot of people in those movies).”
