Signs of Intelligent Life

Life Quote of the Day: “One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.” – Gerard Way (musician, author)

Wuss’Up This Week: Last week included several economic reports that pushed rates higher. The report with the biggest impact was Weekly Jobless Claims, which came in at “only” 390k, better than the expected 400k mark. Some big ones this week that can push rates up or down include today’s CPI (Consumer Price Index – this measures inflation at the consumer level), tomorrow’s Weekly Jobless Claims, and Friday’s LEI (Leading Economic Indicators – this is an indication of future economic activity).

Interest Rate Update: For the last few days rates have been hovering in the low 4s for a 30-yr fixed with ARMs about a point lower. Don’t forget that rates vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and your high school yearbook photo.

…And Don’t Forget that for any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees. This is a $1,200 savings! Be sure to let your co-workers, family, friends, and non-Packer fans know what a great deal this is.

Life Quote of the Day 2: “I am like Hugh Hefner minus anything good about his life.” – Ray Barone (Ray Romano), Everybody Loves Raymond (2003)

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those of you last week who correctly guessed Mackenzie Phillips. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a 4-pack of GE light bulbs (60 watt)? Simply email me the answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: “Yesterday I turned 82. I’m old, and although I haven’t ascended to heaven yet, in 2009 I did manage to go “up.” I like starring in movies but TV is where I hit it big. My biggest sitcom co-starred a guy who would go on to captain a ship, a judge who golfed against Rodney, and a girl who was once married to a TV writer.”

I’m down to a Mint 3 Musketeers, a Strawberry Kit-Kat, and a couple Smarties. These candies must feel like they belong on the Island of Misfit Toys because not even my kids or the neighbor’s dog has made a play for them.
