Silence of the Rates

Achievement Quote of the Day: “Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible.” – Albert Einstein

Did’ja know: It was on this date in 1789 the US Department of Treasury was officially created. Immediately after its formation the department was assigned the task of repaying the war debt that was created from the American Revolution. It was also on this date in 1989 that I began the task of repaying my credit card debt that was created from ordering pizza and Chinese food every night in college.

Wuss’up This Week: This is a big, big week for reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we have the ADP Employment Report, tomorrow’s Jobless Claims Report, and Friday’s Employment Numbers for August (expected 223k new jobs). If these reports (especially Friday’s) come in good for the economy rates will most likely climb, and vice-versa if bad numbers are reported.

Interest rates remain in the high-3s/low 4s for a 30yr fixed with ARM rates .50-75% lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if you buy the Silence of the Lambs home.

Don’t forget to remember that any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a savings of… $1,050! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and forward this blog onto any friends, family, coworkers, or sword fight enthusiasts who can use this break.

Rest in peace Columbia House. I know I still owe you the one penny for the 14 CDs you send me.

Achievement Quote of the Day 2: “Somewhere out there is a guy named Joe whose greatest achievement was being a really sloppy eater.” – @GuyEndoreKaiser

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Jack Black last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Guitar Case Lunch Box. Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “In 3 days I would’ve turned 69 but I died in ’91. Am I royalty? Sort of. Am I a planet? Sort of. Am I a singer-songwriter? Hell yes – just ask the Blackhawks, they love me!”
