Candy Quote of the Day:“All we really need is love, but a little candy now and then doesn’t hurt.” – Charles Schultz
This is always a big week for data that can sway interest rates in either direction because we have not one, not two, but three reports covering employment. Today’s ADP report, tomorrow’s Weekly Jobless Claims (est. 345k), and Friday’s Employment Report for the month of January (7.8% and payrolls up 135k predicted). All 3 of these can move rates because if you’re a child of the 70s you know that 3 is a magic number. Where are rates, by the way?
Up, up, and up. The economy is getting better, Mortgage Fans, so it’s time to buy/refinance a home or forever hold your peace. 30-year fixed rates are in the mid-to-upper 3s with ARM rates about a point lower. Don’t forget – for any loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees (a $1,295 savings!!)
Ever wonder what NFL players are talking about? This will get you ready for the Super Bowl.
Did’ja Know… There are only two cities in the history of the world that have had populations of more than 1 million and then dropped at some point to less than 1 million. They are Rome and…Detroit! Many investors from around the world are buying up homes for as little as $500 in the city that is home to this year’s most overrated hockey team (will my love of the ‘Hawks ever stop?). Read all about it.

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Betty White. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Kyrosol Ear Wax Removal Kit? Simply email me the answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: “Today I turn 39. Some people have called me a psycho (even though I’m not from your country), but my F-bomb outburst about the lighting was an isolated thing so don’t let that define me. You understand?! DO YOU!! Seriously, I’m nice. I didn’t kill the Joker, prescription drugs did.
