Tigers, Teddy Bears, and Cats – oh my!
Difficult Quote of the Day: “When we long for a life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.” – Peter Marshall
Did’ja know: It took the city of Montreal 30 years to pay off its Olympic debt of $2 billion, held in 1976! Side note: I think it took me longer to pay off my first credit card.
I think this is better than throwing your hat on the ice after seeing a hat-trick.
Wuss’up This Week: Today we have a 10-year Note Auction (these make great holiday gifts!), tomorrow Jobless Claims (270k expected), and Retail Sales on Friday. If these three are positive rates will go up slowly like a cat, but if negative the rates will drop slowly.
What an interesting year for rates. From January 1st thru today they are up exactly .005%. In between that time they have fluctuated .375% in either direction. The last few weeks have been a slow climb in preparation for the Fed bump. In the meantime rates are in the high-3s/low-4s for a 30yr fixed, with ARM rates about .50% lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, credit score, and if you can stay up for more than 9 seconds while shoveling.
Don’t forget to remember: any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a savings of $1,050! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or any fans of It’s a Wonderful Life.
Difficult Quote of the Day 2: “An Adam Sandler movie marathon is more difficult than a real marathon.” – @hipstermermaid
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Sarah Silverman last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a vintage Tony the Tiger T-shirt? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It was on this day in 1988 a poll was released that said Neil Diamond was favored as the best background music for sex, with me in second place, and Luther Vandross voted third. Does this bother me? No because I’m dead, and when I was alive – the last ten years of my life – background music meant nothing to me. Anyway…don’t feel sorry for me for finishing 2nd place. Feel sorry for me because I’m sure most of today’s youth thinks I’m a bad dog movie starring Charles Grodin.”
