Vanna applauds the low rates…
February 10, 2010
A reader of my blog sent me this last week after I wrote of the Knacks lead singer passing away. Sharona is actually selling real estate in LA.
Colorful Quote of the Day:
Men and Women are limited not by the place of their birth, not by the color of their skin, but by the size of their hope. Author Unknown
You know that feeling when you go to the dentists office and youre in the waiting room and you pick up the Highlights Magazine in hopes that nobody has circled the hidden pictures yet? But then you open it, and yep some punk kid got to it before you. Thats how it is with interest rates. They are low now, and you know they are going to go up really soon, but you still hold out false-hope that they will stay low forever. My advice as always is to refinance now if you havent yet, or go buy that new home while the rates are still crazy low. A 30yr fixed remains in the high 4s to low 5s. A 5 year ARM remains in the low 4s. As always, rates fluctuate depending on the type of home, equity in the home, and credit score.
Interest rates can and will bounce up and down based on a couple of things that happen today. The first – New Home Sales is predicted to be up 2.3% (less than this and rates will go down). Second, there is a 5-year Treasury Note Auction (a strong demand will lead to lower rates).
Colorful Quote of the Day 2:
And last week I saw Cameron Diaz at Fred Segal, and I talked her out of buying this truly heinous angora sweater. Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed. Elle (Reese Witherpoon), Legally Blonde, 2001.
Have you guys seen Billboards list of the 50 Sexiest Songs of All Time.? Number # 1 is Physical by Olivia Newton-John. In the 6th grade I had a monster crush on her and liked to daydream that one day her name would be Olivia Newton John Schwartz. Although that crush faded when Charlies Angels added Cheryl Ladd-Schwartz to their show.
Timeout for Trivia:
Congratulations to all of you who correctly guessed Vanna White last week. Want to be entered into a quarterly drawing to win cool stuff? Simply email me the answer to this weeks Who Am I? Question. Good luck: It was this date in 2002 that my band performed at the closing ceremonies of the 2002 Olympics. How did I get famous? Having songs in the Top 40 in the late 70s/ early 80s was a start, but Id like to think it was the blood-spitting and fire-breathing during our concerts that really grabbed the attention of the music world. My birth name was Chaim Witz. Even though my stage name is much better, I am still behind Wilt Chamberlins 10,000 and Warren Beattys 13,000.
