Hello, Mortgage Fans – just an announcement that this will be my last blog until January 9th. I’ll still be here but the blog will be taking a vacation. This Week in Economic History: It was on December 20th, 1803 that the U.S. and French governments worked out the final details of the Louisiana Purchase for the small price of $15 million, but to seal the deal We told France to make us a big statue of a woman that we can put in the middle of the harbor. Yes I made that last part up but here’s 10 interesting facts about the big purchase you may not have known .
Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and it’s these reports that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today our friends at the Fed are most likely raising rates by .25%, tomorrow we’ve got Weekly Jobless Claims (205k expected), and on Friday the Durable Goods Orders Report (expected up 1.2%) and Q3 GPD which is a report that measures the US economic production (*which I expect to be low because I just searched YouTube for things to do when you’re bored.
It looks like interest rates will finish the year in the mid-to-upper 4s for a 30-year fixed, with adjustable rate mortgages anywhere from .25% – .50% lower. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and your knowledge of the Bill of Rights.

Walking Quote of the Day 2: “I really can’t walk the walk or talk the talk but if you need someone to drink the drink, I’m your man.” – @VerifiedDrunk
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Taylor Swift. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Twerking Santa? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “Yesterday was my birthday and I’d celebrate but the woman divorcing me is driving me crazy. Don’t get me wrong – I love women, and speaking of crazy driving I love the two women who sparked my career in our ’91 movie before things plummeted. I also loved my first wife who I married in 2000; when we divorced in 2005 my friends would joke and ask if we were still friends. Okay, so women date me then hate me but I tell them not to lose their heads over me – you remember that movie, right?
