Will 2011 be a Happy New Year?

Daughter Quote of the Week: “A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all her life.” – Irish Saying.

2011 Market Up & Down Predictions: Market reports come out daily which have an impact on interest rates. Compared to last year these reports are forecast to be up: The housing market, home values, employment, 10-year note auctions, and construction spending. Compared to last year these reports are forecast to be down: credit card applications, import/export prices, retail sales, business inventories and “action in the bedroom,” according to my wife if I keep on playing the song I’m Too Sexy from my iTunes as a form of foreplay.

Happy New Year to the unemployed? We’ll find out on tomorrow’s ADP Employment report and again on Friday’s Employment Report. These are the two biggest reports of the week that will impact rates. If the consensus estimate of 9.8% unemployment rate grows it will lead to lower rates, and vice-versa if it shrinks.

Interest Rate Update: 30-year fixed rates remain in the low 5s/ high 4s depending on type of home, equity in the home, and credit score. ARMs remain about a point lower.

Daughter Quote of the Week 2: “I understand you may have had sexual relations with my daughter before, but under my roof, it’s my way or the Long Island Expressway. So just keep your snake in its cage for 72 hours.” – Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), Meet the Parents (2000).

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to all who correctly guessed Madonna as the answer to December 23rd’s question. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a 2010 Melrose Place calendar that I never used last year? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It was on this date in 2004 that I got married (no, not to George Castanza), but uh, it didn’t last too long. I however have had a career that has lasted longer than most. In April of ’99 I posed for a risqué Rolling Stone Magazine cover that I did because I was tired of being compared to Debbie Gibson, but maybe that was my fault for doing mall concerts in ’98. And to my mentor of sorts: I hope your papa don’t preach to me about our kiss.”

Rest in Peace Teena Marie. I also want to be your Lovergirl.
