Witch Way Will Rates Go?
Witch Quote of the Day: “Most books on witchcraft will tell you that witches work naked. This is because most books on witchcraft were written by men.” – Neil Gaiman
Here’s some cool product designs.
This Day in Economic History: It was on this day in 1775 the Continental Congress issued the first currency note called ‘The Continental’ which was put in place to help the colonies finance their revolution against Great Britain. George Washington was not a fan saying, “A wagonload of currency will hardly purchase a wagonload of provisions unless my picture is on it.” (yes, I made up that last part).
Wuss’up This Week: Reports about the economy are released daily that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today at 9:00 (that’s right now!) Janet Yellen is going to speak in Washington – what she says will be scrutinized and surely have an impact on rates for the rest of the week. Also today we’ve got the Existing Home Sales report, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and on Friday Durable Goods Orders.
When I hear Joe Cocker’s You Are So Beautiful I like to think he’s talking about today’s interest rates. (*note: that song is probably not about interest rates because when he released that song in ’74 the 30yr fixed rates were at 9.0%). In 2016 we find a 30yr fixed in the mid-to-upper 3s, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if you have a UFO at home.
Don’t forget to remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a $1,050 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or coslackers that can use this gift.
Witch Quote of the Day 2: “Everyone criticizes the Salem Witch Trials, but we haven’t had a witch attack in over 200 years.” – @Piecomic
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Courteney Cox last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Froot Loops Bowl Candle? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck:
“It was in this week in 2011 I was released from home detention because I stole a necklace (was that mean to do?). I like acting. Remember that movie Trading Places? I traded places in a 2003 movie with someone who starred in Trading Places. Since that time I grew up, have been in and out of rehab, and spent some time doing the reality thing on Oprah’s network.”
