Candy, Frosted Flakes, and Low Rates – a great combination!

Reading Quote of the Day: “There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.” – Joseph Brodsky

It was this week in 1940 that a Vermont woman received the first ever Social Security check – it was a grand total of $22.54. I still think that’s $22.54 more than I will ever see. At least I’ve got my stocks! Well… not this week. Well… at least I’ve got my health! (I’m eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes as I type this. I think I’m going to stop now before this paragraph gets any worse.)

Wuss’up This Week: Reports on the economy come out daily that can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we have the FOMC announcement where our friend Janet Yellen will announce she’s not raising rates this time around. Tomorrow we have Jobless Claims, and on Friday the Employment Cost Index (expected: 0.6%). If I knew what the Employment Cost Index was I probably wouldn’t explain it here because you’d be bored out of your mind. So… what do you want to know about? How about rates!

Yep, rates are still beautiful, Mortgage Fans. A 30yr fixed remains in the upper-3s/low-4s with ARM rates about .50% lower. As usual they will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, and if you’re a smart baby.

Don’t forget to remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a savings of $1,050! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma by forwarding this info to any friends, family, coworkers, or people intrigued by the Hubble Telescope that can use this gift.

Your moment of zen.

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Eminem last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Wonder Woman figurine? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? Good luck: It was this week in 2005 that the movie I was in (about a rich dude who liked to fly) was #3 at the box office. I’m more a singer than an actress though. You might remember me from our ’95 album that had 5 hits in the Top 40 including One of them that was #1 for 16 weeks. Interesting that the title of that song contradicts with the title of the reality show I judge on.”
