March Showers Bring Treehouses and Rising Rates

Shower Quote of the Day: “Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it who makes a difference.” –Nolan Bushnell

This Week in Economic History: It was on March 12th, 1987 that the Dow Jones Industrial Average welcomed the Boeing Company and the Coca-Cola Company into its elite ranks. (note: the way my stocks have been going I can’t afford to fly or buy soft drinks)

Wuss’up This Week: Last week we had the employment numbers for February which hurt interest rates. This week there are no earth-shattering reports so assume rates will stay the same. Today we have the 10-yr Note Auction, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and Friday nothing. Feel free to go home early (or don’t go to work at all if you can write a note as creative as this).

Interest rates remain in the mid-to-upper 3s for a 30yr fixed, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if the home has a tree in it.

Don’t forget to remember: any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a $1,050 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or Spock Fans who can use this break.

Shower Quote of the Day 2: “I surveyed 100 women and asked them what shampoo they used when showering. 98 of them said, ‘How the hell did you get in here?’” -@JonahTuck

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those of you who guessed Jessica Biel last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Nicolas Cage Face Stamp? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “Tomorrow I turn 58, and I must say for an ex-model I still look pretty good. Contrary to rumor that old ELO song is not about me, and I’m not into rockers – I like marrying producers. I left modeling and in 1990 starred in a sci-fi movie with a politician (he was not a model before acting but did enter competitions) who was obsessed with a place Matt Damon visited once. A couple years after that movie I had a scene in another movie where my sexiness freaked out Newman (pretty sure he wasn’t looking at my face).”
