Pigs, Rigs, & Rates

Pig Quote of the Day: “Always remember, a cat looks down on man, a dog looks up to a man, but a pig will look man right in the eye and see his equal.” – Winston Churchill

Say to Siri:  “I see a little silhouetto of a man”

This Week in Economic History: It was August 12th, 1981 that IBM began selling the world’s first Personal Computer. Before this date people spent their free time outdoors.

Wuss’up This Week: Every day reports about our economy are released into the wild, and these reports can sway interest rates in either direction. Today we’ve got a 10-Yr Note Auction, tomorrow Jobless Claims, and on Friday the Baker-Hughes Rig Count. (*I have no clue who Baker or Hughes is, or why they want to count rigs! Just took this off the Bloomberg Economic Calendar and posted it here to make me look smarter).

Interest Rates are now a month into the 3rd quarter and seem like they want to stay here for the rest of the year. A 30yr fixed remains in the high-3s/low-4s, with ARM rates about a half a point lower. As usual rates will vary based on credit score, type of home, equity in the home, and if you own an absurdly expensive vacation home.

Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive HALF the lender fees – an $895 savings! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass this info onto any friends, family, coworkers, or special effect dads that can use this gift.

Pig Quote of the Day 2: “I still think Porky Pig got his stutter from an early jail experience.” – @GPappalardo

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who last week guessed Martha Stewart. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Puff & Fluff Dog Dryer? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck: “It’s my birthday today – I’m still relatively young, and definitely not in the later part of my career (*what’s that word? The one between daylight and darkness…). Am I a singer? Well, you probably wouldn’t pay to see me in concert but you would pay to see me sing in movies. Some movies I don’t sing in at all –  like in 2009 there were two movies released with the word ‘Up’ in the title. I was in the one that wasn’t animated.”
