…Therefore I Am

Thinking Quote of the Day:“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.” – C.S. Lewis

The greed in the banking industry started way back in the early 80s with one of the greatest movies ever made.

Wuss’Up Last Week: Plenty of positive economic data pushed interest rates higher. New Home Sales came in higher than expected, Durable Goods Orders came in higher than expected, and Weekly Jobless Claims finished slightly better than expected. All of this good news is ruining it for everybody!

Wuss’up This Week: A humongous week for data that can move interest rates in either direction. The biggest economic data will center around employment (ADP’s Employment report today, Weekly Jobless Claimstomorrow, and July’s Employment Report on Friday) and notes from the Fed Meeting which adjourns today (1:15 CST). Negative news = lower rates.

Interest rates seem content hanging out in the mid-4s (for a 30-yr fixed) with ARM rates about a point lower. As usual, for any purchase or refinance loan over $240k I will waive all lender fees – a $1,295 savings! Please forward this email onto any of your peeps who can benefit from this.

I thought the Final Four of Cosby sweaters was interesting, although the winning sweater screwed up my bracket.

Thinking Quote of the Day 2: “Research has shown that men think about sex every 15 sex.” – Kyle Lippert (@Kyle_Lippert)

Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Sandra Bullock last week. Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Billy Idol poster? Simply email me the answer to this week’s “Who Am I?” question. Good luck: “Yesterday I turned 50! How depressing to think that over the next 50 years I’ll see all of my friends die. Well. Instead of looking ahead I should reminisce about the past – that’s what you do at high school reunions, right? Just don’t lie about inventing an office supply.”
